Dr. Kobaissy is trained neuroscientists with extensive expertise in the areas of biomarker research utilizing neuroproteomics approaches applied in the areas of neurotrauma and substance abuse. Dr. Kobeissy serves as the Associate Professor at the American University of Beirut at the Department of Biochemistry ad Molecular Genetics; He is also a member in the: Program for Neurotrauma, Neuroproteomics & Biomarker Research (NNBR) / at the University of Florida. Dr. Kobeissy has excellent expertise, leadership, training, and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research training projects. As PI or co-Investigator on several university- and DoD/VA-funded grants, Dr. Kobeissy successfully administered the studies (e.g. staffing, research protections, budget), collaborated with other researchers, and produced several peer-reviewed publications from different projects. His experience in neuroproteomics and systems biology spans different applications related to experimental models including closed head injuries, blast injuries and other clinical and experimental models of neurotrauma. Dr. Kobaissy has published extensively in the areas of biomarker identification, and systems biology analysis, which had a successful application in the areas TBI other neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Kobaissy is trained with different bio-informatics software including Pathways Studio, Panther and David (NIH-Supported) software. In addition, Dr. Kobaissy is Ingenuity Pathways Analysis (IPA) software certified to conduct proteome/genome pathways –network analysis. He has published more than 180 publications articles and edited seven books in the areas of brain injury, biomarkers and neuropsychiatric disorders. He has served on several grant review panels including the DoD, CDRMP, VA and NIH study sections.
