With a PhD in Sustainable Water and Energy Technologies, Dr. Mahmoud is a highly Academic, Research Scientist and skilled Sustainable Energy and Water specialist, He has over 17 years of experience in water desalination, solar energy, climate change, low carbon technologies, water, agriculture and environmental issues. He was a former research fellow/Lecturer at the Institute of Sustainable Energy Technologies, University of Nottingham. Dr. Mahmoud is the national winner of UK for the international Globe Energy Award 2015 and the winner for His highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award 2020 Dubai, UAE. Dr. Mahmoud has worked as a Lecturer at the Military Technological College in Oman and Assistant professor at Palestine university. Meanwhile he is currently working as an assistant professor at the institute of water and environment at AL Azhar university for MSc and PhD students. He has a PhD. in Sustainable Water and Energy Technologies from the University of Nottingham. His research was focused on solar water desalination. He has an MSc in New and Renewable Energy and Environmental Engineering, which he received from the Durham University, UK. Dr. Mahmoud has published a variety of journal and conference papers in the field of solar energy, solar water desalination, and climate change in addition to water/wastewater and he has been a key speaker at international conferences on these issues. Further, Dr. Mahmoud is currently working as Green and renewable Energy Advisor for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Team Leader for Oxford Policy Management – Oxford, while he has extensive experience in project management and monitoring and evaluation of a variety of development and humanitarian projects funded by various donors such as European Union, USAID, World bank, DFID, SIDA and KFW, and has delivered projects of up to $80M USD in the complex environment of Gaza, Yemen and Jordan.
